Uni, a safe passage to graduate jobs?

by John Bult last modified 2008-09-22 12:44

In years gone by, a degree was usually a safe passage to graduate jobs in the UK.

Now, the numbers of graduate jobs has fallen dramatically in recent months.  There are many graduates completing there studies and unable to get graduate jobs they end up working in supermarkets and other manual jobs.

This changes the emphasis in the criteria would be students may consider when choosing where to study.  New research by the Sunday Times shows that 5 Uni's alone where more likely  to produce students who go on to fill graduate jobs.  This is likely to be essential reading for aspiring students, an indeed perhaps for those in charge of institutions not in that top 5.  Given the job insecurity faced by most graduates this is likely to be a key feature in students decisions into the future.
